Ten międzynarodowy konkurs jest otwarty dla wszystkich, począwszy od studentów aż po pracowników branży elektronicznej. Projekty można wykonywać indywidualnie lub w grupach, maksymalnie trzyosobowych.

Zespoły, które zakwalifikują się do następnego etapu otrzymają od producenta do realizacji projektu zestaw deweloperski Terasic DE10-Nano. Każdy kto sam nie zgłasza projektu do konkursu może zostać jego jurorem.

Wystarczy zarejestrować się jako uczestnik społeczności Innovate FPGA, która wybierze 100 najlepszych projektów z pośród czterech regionów świata. Ostateczny termin zgłoszenia upływa 1 grudnia 2017. Dodatkowe informacje dostępne są na stronie konkursu www.innovatefpga.com

Sharp to expand IGZO, OLED panel production capacity

Sharp reportedly will realign its LCD panel production lines in 2018 with plans to ramp up the output of IGZO and OLED panels, and at the same time to pare down LTPS and a-Si panel production, according to industry sources. The company plans to transfer part of the capacity of its 6G fab in Kameyama from LTPS to IGZO production in the fourth quarter of 2018. By fourth-quarter 2018, only 15,000 substrates will be available for LTPS panels, while the remaining 10,000 substrates will be shifted for production of IGZO panels. więcej na: www.digitimes.com

BMW raises R&D spending for electric, autonomous cars

German carmaker BMW will increase research and development spending to an all-time high of up to 7 billion euros ($8.6 billion) this year as part of efforts to bring 25 electrified models to market by 2025. Huawei is in talks to build a blockchain-ready smartphone

Huawei Technologies Ltd. is considering developing a mobile phone that will be able to run blockchain-based applications, according to two people familiar with the plans. Shenzhen, China-based Huawei is in talks to license Sirin Labs’ operating system, called SIRIN OS, to run blockchain applications alongside Alphabet Inc.’s Android system, said the people, who asked not to be named because the talks are private. EU proposes online turnover tax for big tech firms

The European Commission proposed rules to make digital companies pay more tax, with U.S. tech giants such as Google, Facebook and Amazon set to foot a large chunk of any bill. Despite support from big powers Germany and, especially, France, that risks making it very hard to turn the idea into European law. Google is reportedly acquiring Lytro for around $40 million

Lytro burst onto the scene in 2011 with its then-unprecedented "light field" technology that powered an oddly-shaped camera with the ability to refocus pictures after they're taken. The first $400 camera arrived in 2012, however, after a pivot to virtual reality and pro cameras, TechCrunch reports the company will be acquired by Google.
