iPhone 7 is beating iPhone 8 according to sales research

It has been reported that Apple’s older iPhone 7 models are outselling the iPhone 8s and iPhone X that launches early November. Most of the time the new editions of iPhone have sold faster but it is not true in this case. According AT&T the last week its third-quarter postpaid handset upgrades were fewer by nearly 900,000 from a year ago, and brokerage Jefferies attributed it to weak iPhone 8 demands. “Many respondents indicated that a meaningful portion of customers are buying iPhone7 in lieu of the new iPhone 8, given the lack of significant enhancements in the new phone.” KeyBanc analyst John Vinh wrote in a client note. więcej na: www.dailytech.com

IBM has been focusing on cloud, cybersecurity and data analytics, or what the company calls its “strategic imperatives”, to counter a slowdown in its legacy hardware and software businesses. Revenue from these businesses climbed 11 percent to $8.8 billion in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, accounting for about 46 percent of the company’s total revenue. więcej na: www.reuters.com

Polestar's vehicles have been impressive - we've tested the wagon at Business Insider - but the company now thinks that shifting the brand to an all-electric identity is the way to go. The first vehicle - called a "halo for the future Polestar brand" by Volvo - will be dubbed "Polestar 1" and be a gas-electric hybrid two-door cranking out 600 horsepower. więcej na: www.businessinsider.com

Samsung striving for OLED panel orders from China

Samsung Display is striving for OLED panel orders from China-based mobile device vendors, but will be facing competition from its China-based rivals such as BOE Technology and Tianma Micro-electronics, according to industry sources. Samsung's OLED panels are already being used for its own-brand smartphones, as well as Apple's iPhone X. The Korea-based vendor is vying aggressively for OLED panel orders from China-based smartphone brands, but is aware of the potential customers' preference for China-made panels, the sources indicated. LG Display is another competitor of Samsung in the OLED panel field, but Samsung regards its China-based rivals as a major threat when it comes to orders from China, the sources noted. więcej na: www.digitimes.com
